Therapeutic Blue Smoothie

Therapeutic Anemia-improving Blue Smoothie Recipe:

 

1 cup blueberries (frozen or fresh)

1 cup nutmilk (or other liquid)

1/2 cup Aronia juice

1/2 raw or cooked beet 

1 bunch beet leaves

1 bunch spinach leaves

1/2 cup banana

1 tbs hemp protein powder

1 tsp sea salt

1 tbs honey (or sweetener of your choice)

1 tsp spirulina

How to make it:

Place all ingredients in blender and blend on high for 30 seconds to 1 minute and enjoy! 

A few notes:

--If you like your smoothie more frozen you can freeze your bananas. 

--If you don't have nutmilk you can use coconut milk or coconut water, I sometimes use hot steeped tea if it's winter so the smoothie isn't ice cold from the frozen blueberries. 

--If you don't have a high powered blender, steam your beets first...they will blend much better once cooked and slightly softer

--feel free to replace or add any ingredients, but remember this is a specially created recipe for  those who are having a hard time trying to get or keep their iron levels up. Make sure you add or remove with that in mind!

This is a therapeutic smoothie specifically designed to help people who have low iron levels.
